Frequently Asked Questions

What is DoraCloud?

DoraCloud (Deskpool) is an all-in-one, multi-platform desktop virtualization (VDI) solution designed for small and medium-sized deployments. It supports multiple hypervisors — Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, Proxmox, and XenServer — and multiple desktop protocols including RDP, SPICE, and PCoIP. DoraCloud is suitable for education, enterprise offices, 3D design, and information security scenarios.

Is DoraCloud free?

DoraCloud offers multiple editions: Free, Basic, Standard, and Pro. The Free edition allows you to get started at no cost with a limited number of virtual desktops. Paid editions unlock additional features such as larger user capacity, advanced management, and priority support. Please visit the DoraCloud website or contact sales for current pricing details.

Which hypervisors does DoraCloud support?

DoraCloud supports the following virtualization platforms:

  • Proxmox 5.3 and above (supports RDP and SPICE protocols)
  • VMware vSphere 6.0, 6.5, 6.7 (supports RDP and PCoIP protocols)
  • Hyper-V Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 (supports RDP)
  • Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 with Hyper-V role (supports RDP)
  • XenServer 6.2 (supports RDP)

What deployment modes are supported?

DoraCloud supports four deployment topologies:

  • Single-node: One server running DoraCloud and all virtual desktops. Best for small teams (up to ~60 users). Quick to deploy and easy to maintain.
  • High-availability cluster: Requires shared storage. Hypervisor HA mechanisms protect virtual desktops when a node fails. Recommended for enterprise environments requiring high reliability.
  • Hyper-converged: Uses distributed storage (Ceph on Proxmox, VSAN on VMware, S2D on Windows Server 2016 Datacenter) to eliminate dedicated SAN/NAS hardware.
  • Peer cluster: Multiple independent single-node systems managed as one logical pool, providing cross-node resource allocation and management node HA.

What thin client hardware does DoraCloud support?

DoraCloud works with a range of thin client devices, including:

  • DC20 — ARM Cortex-A55 quad-core, 4K output, fanless, ~5W power consumption
  • JC30 / JC35 / JC36 — Intel-based, dual-screen support, local + cloud dual-mode operation
  • JC30AIO — All-in-one thin client terminal
  • DoraBook — Lightweight cloud laptop (1.1 kg), supports RDP, PCoIP, SPICE, and more

Existing PCs can also be converted into thin clients using the DoraOS software system.
